Scripture: Genesis 39
Suggested Song: On Christ The Solid Rock
Preparation for Family Worship:
Here we start Josephs journey into slavery. By the providence of God Joseph is sold to serve in the house of Potiphar, and official to Pharaoh. You might ask how is slavery the providence of God? We will see that as the story unfolds, but we must see everything that happens in life as the providence of God. You probably have heard this story, but Joseph is a man who fears the Lord and was wronged by his brothers. He is now a slave the house of a very prominent mans house in Egypt. The Bible says that Jospeh was a very handsome man and that Potiphar’s wife tried to seduce him. Joseph runs from her and then she accuses him. This leads to him being thrown into prison. This leads to him eventually being placed in charge of all Egypt and thus being able to provide for his family and the entire nation of Israel eventually. God uses the faithfulness of His servants.
- Was Joseph being sold into slavery a bad thing?
- In the midst of an evil done to him, how does Joseph respond?
- How does God use injustices for His glory?
Pray that in every situation you will be faithful to the word of the Lord.
